First Visit

Please arrive approximately 10 minutes early for your first appointment.

This allows time to:

  • Complete intake paperwork
    • Discuss your needs and expectations
    • Review professional consent
    • Identify problem areas and goals for the session

This conversation helps Dan understand your body, goals, and areas of concern so the session can be tailored specifically to you.

Muscle Pliability

Muscles respond significantly better to pressure work when the body is properly hydrated.

Recommended preparation:

Drink 2.5–4 liters of water in the 24 hours leading up to your session.

Optional but recommended:

Take an electrolyte supplement 8–12 hours before your appointment to support proper hydration and muscle function.

Inflammation & Mobility

Reducing systemic inflammation can allow muscles to move more freely and respond better to deep tissue work.

Some clients find that arriving in a fasted state improves results.

General guideline:

  • 24-hour fast — strongest effect
    12-hour fast — still beneficial

Fasting is optional, and you should follow what works best for your body.

What to Avoid Before Your Session

Alcohol

Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before your appointment.

Alcohol can increase dehydration and may make muscles more sensitive during deep tissue work.

Heavy Meals

Avoid eating a large meal within TWO hour of your session.

A light meal or snack beforehand is fine.

Intense Exercise

Avoid very heavy workouts immediately before your appointment.

Extremely fatigued muscles can be more sensitive to deep pressure work.

What to Expect After Deep Tissue Work

Deep tissue massage can create meaningful changes in muscle tension and circulation.

After your session you may experience:

  • Increased mobility
    • Reduced muscle tension
    • Deep relaxation
    • Mild soreness lasting 24–48 hours

This response is normal as your body adapts.

Helpful recovery tips:

  • Drink water
    • Light stretching or walking
    • Avoid extremely intense exercise for the remainder of the day
Who Benefits Most From Deep Tissue Work

Deep tissue work is especially helpful for people whose bodies experience constant physical demand.

Common clients include:

Trades & Physical Labor

  • Construction workers
    • Mechanics
    • Electricians
    • Landscapers
    • Warehouse workers

Years of repetitive work can create tight muscle chains, joint stress, and limited mobility.

Healthcare Workers

  • Nurses
    • CNAs
    • Hospital staff
    • Physical therapists

Long hours on your feet and constant patient movement place heavy stress on the back, hips, shoulders, and neck.

Athletes & Active Individuals

  • Weight lifters
    • Runners
    • Martial artists
    • CrossFit athletes
    • Recreational sports players

Deep tissue work can help restore range of motion, recovery, and performance.

High Stress Professions

  • Office workers
    • Drivers
    • Business owners
    • Managers

Chronic stress often shows up physically as neck tension, shoulder tightness, headaches, and back pain.

Is Deep Tissue Massage Right For You?

Deep tissue massage focuses on releasing chronic muscle tension and restoring movement.

This style of bodywork may be right for you if you:

  • Experience chronic tightness
    • Have reduced range of motion
    • Perform physically demanding work
    • Sit for long periods with postural strain
    • Train regularly in sports or fitness
    • Want lasting relief instead of temporary relaxation

When Deep Tissue May Not Be Ideal

If you are looking for:

  • Very light touch
    • A purely relaxation-focused experience
    • Minimal pressure

Then a traditional spa-style massage may be a better fit.

At Para Health Massage, the focus is simple:

Restore movement. Reduce tension. Keep your body working.
